Conference Theme:
Custodianship/Coimirce
The National University of Ireland Galway (NUI Galway) will host the ACHS 2024 conference.
The theme of ‘Custodianship’ (‘Coimirce’ in Irish) links communities to heritage stewardship.
The Galway conference will explore the subject of critical heritage discourse within these narratives. Fostering equity of engagement of all people as universal custodians of their cultural heritage.
ACHS Travel Fellowships 2024
The Association of Critical Heritage Studies is pleased to announce its support for a limited number of travel bursaries to facilitate participation in the conference in Galway in June 2024. Bursaries are designed to prioritize students, early-career researchers (ECRs), scholars from the Global South, or those who may face financial barriers to attending the conference.
To apply for the bursaries, you must submit an application after acceptance of your abstract to the conference. The competition will remain open until December 31, 2023, with successful candidates notified shortly thereafter.
A panel will review the applications. 8-12 ACHS Travel Fellows will be selected by a selection panel. Fellows will be awarded a bursary on a sliding scale from $500 CAD up to a maximum of $2,500 CAD each based on the quality of the application, demonstrated need, and distance/cost of travel.
Those not selected for ACHS Travel Fellowships will be placed on a waiting list. Should an ACHS Travel Fellow be unable to accept the award and attend the Galway conference, the funds will be redistributed to a candidate on the waitlist in order of ranking as determined by the selection panel.
Recipients of the ACHS Travel Fellowships will be required to submit a report detailing the use of their award. Additionally, ACHS encourages recipients to share their conference experiences through a short testimonial or blog post.
